The Alternative guide to festival beauty survival.

What ever your style. . . festival glamour needs to be quick, effective and fool proof, but most of all, it needs to with stand sleepless nights and hungover mornings, not to mention the possible absence of a hot shower!

Wether you are a high flyer or boutique camper, herbal hippy, rock chic or a glittering flower fairy, a few useful tips and a little help from some clever beauty essentials . . . will see you well on your way to looking and feeling festival fabulous!

Before you go
Have your eyelashes tinted, you’ll save space in your makeup bag and also precious time getting ready. To ensure that you don’t have a reaction insist on a skin test before hand.

Pop along to your local beauty counter and pick up a few samples of your favourite lotions, potions and perfume, make sure to include sachets of sun block too. These are ideal to have handy during the day and are disposable.

Avoid the horror of grimy looking nails by painting them in one of this season’s fabulous colours. For long-lasting and smooth-looking nail polish, apply a layer of ridge filler or top coat in between.

Bag the basics
Travel light by packing make-up products that can be used in more ways than one. Multi-tasking products that can be used on the eyes, lips, cheeks and body.

Iridescent and glittery eyeshadow looks great in the sun light and can be swiped on with just a finger. By applying with a damp brush you can also use it as eyeliner too, making it easier to apply, longer lasting and the colour will appear more intense, just perfect for festival nighttime.

Choose an eye liner and a lip liner that come in a retractable pen – no sharpener needed!

Why not ditch the mascara and eyelash curlers altogether in favour of some funky reusable fake eyelashes. These are already curled, there are stacks to choose from and can stay on for three days if used with waterproof lash adhesive!

Leave the bling at home in the safe and opt for beautiful jewels like bindis to adorn the forehead and around the eyes, bindis are reusable self adhesive gems that add instant sparkle and glamour. Try temporary tattoos (think Chanel – jewellery or pretty butterflies and flowers) even henna can be a fabulous and safe way to adorn the skin and will stay put for the duration!

And finally – a small tube of body glitter, your favorite Lip balm and a pack of make-up remover all-in-one wipes!
